Internationalism
Inclusion: Respect for Human Dignity
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Internationalism

InternationalISM at our school derives directly from our mission statement and particularly from living and breathing our belief that all stakeholders at ISM, “Acknowledge and celebrate our differences and encourage empathy, compassion, understanding and respect for human dignity.”

As the oldest IB Diploma school in the region, we acknowledge our obligation to: “…develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.”

The InternationalISM of our students and faculty is an enormous strength, and the diversity within our school helps achieve respect for human dignity within the school and beyond.

Inclusion: Respect for Human Dignity

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In our guiding statements, we undertake to “acknowledge and celebrate our differences and encourage empathy, compassion, understanding and respect for human dignity”. To honor this pledge, we must commit ourselves to developing an anti-bias, anti-racist mindset - as individuals and as an institution.

The following obligations will guide our work as a keystone in ISM’s growth and development:

1.    We will revisit and revise our curriculum and review our pedagogy to confirm that content and instruction reflect and respect our multinational and multicultural community.

2.    We will examine and update administrative practices to ensure equitable and compassionate treatment for all.

3.    We will continue our efforts to recruit a talented and diverse faculty as befits an international school.

4.    We will cultivate and nurture the unique abilities, talents and interests of every child in the school and address those social and cultural forces - including race and nationality, socioeconomic status, religion, gender and sexual orientation - that may harm or handicap their development.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

"We value belonging and flourish together."

The internationalISM of our community reflects the diversity visible throughout the world and within the Philippines. Grounded in our Core Values and Mission, we act on our beliefs and attitudes to nurture student growth. We commit to building an educational program and school culture that engages the community, honors individual experiences and respects human dignity. At ISM, we value belonging and flourish together.
